Ellen Coleman + Joseph Engagement Session in Birmingham, AL

Last Thursday, August 25th was a full circle moment for me…

You’ve heard the saying that friendships and people are seasonal, well I’m here to tell you that while that statement may be true for many friendships - there are friendships that no matter the time or distance that passes, you can just pick back up where you left off… This is one of those friendships!

About 15 years ago, Ellen Coleman and I both cheered for a program known by ACE of Birmingham where we cheered majority of the seasons on the same team. This forced EC to HAVE to deal with me LOL & if our lives were not intertwined enough through cheerleading, my dad was/is employed by her father at his dealership (Edwards Chevrolet). YES, they are still going strong so for all your car buying needs visit and ask for Jonathan Hollman at 1400 Third Ave N , Birmingham, AL (Shameless Plug). After not having seen or spoken to EC for a couple of years, I saw that she had found the love of her life and got engaged - so my congratulations were in order and so was a shameless plug to my wedding photography + videography business. Unfortunately for me, Ellen Colemans’ mom told me that they had already booked their wedding photographer.  You are probably thinking “then where is the full circle moment?”. Well, a couple of days later, I received a message from EC asking if I was interested in capturing her and Josephs’ engagement session… You already know the answer to that question! I booked my flight back to my hometown of Birmingham, AL for less than 24 hours.

Last Thursday, August 25th was a full circle moment for me…

EC and I planned the day out to take advantage of a few spots and the day came and POURED all day long!! Internally stressing because all I could think about was my flight was booked to leave at 5:25am the next morning… Well, if you’ve read my two past blogs about a drenched wedding turned into powerful testimony - well, try adding that my phone died on the way to the first location and I DO NOT know my way around Birmingham anymore; but God got me!! As I pulled up to the first location - the rain STOPPED but my tears started when I saw Ellen Coleman (Joseph, you looked handsome too). My little sister and stunt partner had found her forever person and she was going through the process so many young girls dream of. Of course, I blamed it on the 88° heat and the rain lol

The session came with laughs, smiles, kisses, broken hips from hip bumps and flirty whispers. I can’t wait to see how beautiful your wedding turns out April 1st, 2023 and the wise words said by Joseph

“If I ever forget our wedding anniversary, I have the perfect ready-made excuse… APRIL FOOLS!!!”

With that being said, photos captured will always tell a better story than my words ever will so enjoy some of my favorites from this 24 hour trip to Birmingham, AL with Joseph + Ellen Coleman.
