SARA + CHRIS - GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN

To say that I’ve been waiting for this session would be nothing short of an understatement. Quite frankly, this could be said by anyone that personally knows Sara B and Chris; a love story that has been in the process for many years.

I was blessed to meet and cheer with Sara B (going to be hard to change the “B” to an “M”) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) for a few years and I’ve always been thankful for our friendship which makes this blog even more meaningful. Sara reached out before Chris even proposed and told me her plans for Miterson and I to capture her wedding, whenever that may be… which if you’ve read my past blogs, you know that this full circle moment falls in line perfectly. Having the opportunity to capture my friends weddings has NEVER been seen as a burden; moreso as a blessing.

Once S+C booked, the planning and excitement for this trip couldn’t come soon enough. Sara had a vision for their engagement session to be in their home state of Michigan at the beautiful Grand Rapids. We started the day off at a dope outdoor coffee shop and restaurant to get them comfortable in front of my camera. After grabbing a snack, we transitioned over to downtown Grand Rapids as we bounce around town finding aesthetically pleasing locations. As the sun started to set, Sara took Chris and I on a “brisk” hike (LOL) and finished the night off at the beautiful Sagatuck Sand Dunes. As many of you know, I personally create my best work with an outline but with the flexibility to simply just get to know and document their story. One of the strongest attributes of their relationship is the willingness to listen to one another’s opinions and concerns! While they both agree that their personalities are on different ends of the spectrum, it’s evident that they have one pivotal core piece in common: “Your needs are just as important as mine.”

To give you a sense of this, I asked them

“How did you know _____ was the one?”

and in so little words, here is what they responded:

Chris’ Answer:

“I knew Sara was the one because she gave me a new found form of inner peace. She’s my anchor in the midst of any storm. Goodnight has become so easy because I know that Good Morning will bring a new adventure with her.”

Sara B’s Answer:

“I knew Christopher was the one because he recharges my battery with his humor and willingness to challenge me. Our personalities are so different but the intentionality in our foundation is what has made us so compatible. Loving Christopher became so natural because of the love our families have always had for each other.”

As always, my words can only give you a shortsighted glimpse into the story that can be told in these images.

I am so excited to document the future McGowens’ wedding in the spring of 2025.
